Sustainable Development
Preservation is a key consideration for this development.
In order to modernize the site with an eye for conservation, the project will preserve existing structures, where possible, to reduce its environmental footprint.
The sustainable approach will include the development of single-family residential and green space in areas previously paved with asphalt for walking trails, landscaping (grass, trees, shrubs, vegetation) and carefully designed community amenities.
The below represent specific aspects of the project to ensure the sustainable and environmentally friendly nature of the development.
Adaptive Reuse
As a form of preservation, the developers plan to adapt existing buildings on the property wherever possible. This approach has many benefits, including a reduction of the building materials needed to transform a space.
Restored Greenspaces
In an effort to promote conservation and highlight the natural beauty of the site, a significant portion of previously paved, surface level parking will be moved underground into the existing building. The Tesson Ridge development will restore significant green space throughout the property for the enjoyment of the residents and neighborhood, featuring playgrounds, large yards, sports courts, walking trails and community gardens. The project team is working closely with an arborist to selectively add and remove trees to improve the quality of the property.
Renewable Resources
Selective use of solar energy will be incorporated as part of the adaptive reuse, further reducing the project’s environmental footprint. Attention will be paid to best practices in bio-retention areas to promote water quality and volume reduction of storm water runoff.
